This policy describes the Nightfall Chrome extension, including its Light, Dark and System appearance features.
Nightfall processes website appearance on your device to adapt pages to your chosen light, dark or system appearance. It reads page structure, styles, colors and relevant image information for this purpose. It reads the current website address to apply your website preferences.
Your enabled setting, default appearance, brightness, contrast and website appearance choices are stored using Chrome's local extension storage. Website choices include hostnames. Nightfall does not maintain a browsing-history log. Uninstalling the extension removes its local settings.
Nightfall has no account system, analytics, advertising or developer-operated data collection backend. It does not transmit page contents, form entries, website addresses or saved settings to the developer, and does not sell personal information.
The appearance engine may request stylesheets or images referenced by the page to analyze their appearance locally. Those requests go to the website or its resource providers, not to a Nightfall server, and are subject to normal browser security rules. Nightfall's custom resource fetches omit credentials. Resource providers may receive ordinary request information such as your IP address under their own policies.
You can choose Light, Dark or Follow system as your default appearance and save a different choice for an individual website. Follow system adapts pages toward light or dark as your system appearance changes. Pages detected as already matching the chosen appearance keep their original styling. You can choose Original website appearance for a website, pause Nightfall globally, adjust brightness and contrast, or uninstall it. Pausing Nightfall or choosing Original website appearance removes the styling generated by the extension.
Chrome, the Chrome Web Store and the websites you visit operate under their own privacy policies. This policy describes the extension itself.
Nightfall uses website content and website addresses only to provide its appearance features and website controls. This use complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Nightfall does not use this information for advertising, creditworthiness or lending decisions.
